Oil on canvas. This chipper little chirper was a possible cover for a book I wrote ("Traditional Songs from Québec for English-Speakers", published by Mel Bay.) Nightingales were a medieval symbol for a teacher of love's ways and messenger of love and were prominent characters in many an old "complainte" (lament) or ballad.
