Welcome!
Thanks so much for browsing this site. In the Galleries section, you'll find images for many of my paintings and prints, with a lot of variety in subject matter, medium, technique, style, size, and price. If you like, you can buy the work right here, framed as you want, and shipped to your home or office.
A little about me, then and now:
I've been drawing since I can remember and feel extremely fortunate to have grown with encouraging parents who filled our home with art, art books, sculptures, paintings, and arts-and-crafts work areas.
I graduated from U.C. Berkeley, and then did graduate work at U.C. Berkeley’s (then) School of Art and Architecture, where I studied with ceramicist Peter Voulkos. Following that, I studied art and design at the California College of Arts and Crafts (where I won First Prize in the all-student art show.)
I became a graphic designer and illustrator (as well as a writer and musician). My days and decades were busy trying to fulfill our family's and my clients' needs. But when our children were older, we decided to move from the Bay Area to Southern Oregon, and by luck I stumbled upon a wonderful painting class. It started me making art for my own pleasure again, after several decades.
These days, I walk around in a state of great gratitude and visual inspiration, as I absorb the natural beauty all around in the glorious Applegate Valley. It has greatly affected how I see the world and what and how I paint.
Clients, awards, galleries:
I've won numerous major awards in graphic design, illustration, and typography. Some of my clients have included multiple departments at Stanford University, NASA, ESA (The European Space Agency), Rolling Stone Magazine, Levi Strauss, Kaiser Permanente, United Airlines, Apple, Hewlett Packard, and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. For years, I was the art director for the Stanford University Lawyer Magazine and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Magazine.
My work has appeared in design, illustration, and typography annuals, been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is in the Permanent Collection of the Library of Congress and the Stanford University Libraries Special Collections.
My paintings are in private collections and have been exhibited at Stanford University, and local galleries, among others.
Thanks for looking. I hope we'll be in touch.
